Twin Core Solar Cable

Twin-core flat solar cable for simplified installation — positive and negative in one cable

Twin core solar cable combines positive and negative DC conductors in a single flat cable construction, simplifying installation and reducing labour time on solar projects. Each conductor has independent double insulation meeting the same PV1-F / H1Z2Z2-K requirements. Suitable for both rooftop and ground-mount systems where running two separate cables is impractical or where cable management needs to be simplified.

EN 50618IEC 62930TUV 2 PfG 1169/08.2007GB/T 32129

Key features

  • Two independently insulated conductors in one cable
  • Same XLPO cross-linked insulation as single-core PV1-F
  • Flat construction for easy routing and clip installation
  • Rated 1.0/1.5kV DC per conductor
  • UV and weather resistant for 25+ year outdoor life
  • Available: 2×4mm², 2×6mm²
  • Colour coded: Red + Black

Typical applications

  • Rooftop solar systems with limited cable tray space
  • Ground-mount solar farms — main DC trunk lines
  • Carport and canopy solar installations
  • Residential solar systems
  • Anywhere cable count reduction improves installation speed

Frequently asked questions about Twin Core Solar Cable

Q.Is twin core solar cable code-compliant?

Yes. Each conductor meets the full PV1-F / EN 50618 requirements independently — double insulation, UV resistance, and DC voltage rating. The twin configuration is simply two compliant cables joined at the outer sheath for installation convenience.

Q.Can I separate the two cores at termination points?

Yes. The flat cable can be split at junction boxes and combiner boxes by cutting along the centre web. Each conductor then terminates independently into MC4 connectors or terminal blocks.

Q.When should I use twin core vs two single-core cables?

Use twin core when installation speed matters and cable routing allows flat cable. Use separate single-core cables when positive and negative runs follow different paths, or when conduit requires round cable profiles.
