Photovoltaic DC Cable — TUV Certified
Solar Cable (PV1-F / H1Z2Z2-K)
UV-resistant, halogen-free DC solar cable for photovoltaic string connections and combiner boxes
PV1-F (also designated H1Z2Z2-K per EN 50618) is the international standard solar photovoltaic cable designed specifically for DC connections between solar panels, string combiner boxes, and inverters. Engineered to withstand extreme UV exposure, wide temperature swings, and outdoor weathering for 25+ years. Cross-linked, halogen-free insulation rated 1.0/1.5kV DC (1.8kV peak).
Key features
- Cross-linked XLPO (cross-linked polyolefin) insulation — halogen-free
- Rated 1.0/1.5kV DC (1.8kV DC peak)
- Operating temperature: -40°C to +90°C
- UV resistant — designed for 25-year outdoor exposure
- Tinned copper conductor for corrosion resistance
- Single-core, available in 2.5mm², 4mm², 6mm², 10mm², 16mm²
- Double insulation (Class II) — no earth conductor required
- Flame retardant per IEC 60332-1
Typical applications
- DC string connections between PV modules
- Rooftop solar installations
- Ground-mounted utility-scale solar farms
- String combiner box to inverter connections
- Battery energy storage system (BESS) DC circuits
- Floating solar (with UV and water resistance)

Frequently asked questions about Solar Cable (PV1-F / H1Z2Z2-K)
Q.What is the difference between PV1-F and H1Z2Z2-K?
They are the same cable. PV1-F is the older TUV designation; H1Z2Z2-K is the harmonized European designation per EN 50618. Both refer to cross-linked, halogen-free, double-insulated DC solar cable rated 1.5kV. Our cable carries both markings.
Q.Is your solar cable TUV certified?
Yes. Our PV1-F cable is tested and certified by TUV to 2 PfG 1169/08.2007 standard. TUV certificate and test report are provided with shipments. We can also produce to UL 4703 for North American projects.
Q.What is the expected lifespan of solar cable?
PV1-F cable is designed for a minimum 25-year service life in outdoor UV-exposed conditions, matching the design life of solar panels. The cross-linked insulation does not degrade under sustained UV and thermal cycling the way PVC would.
Q.Can I use regular power cable instead of solar cable?
No. Regular PVC or XLPE power cable is not designed for outdoor UV exposure, wide temperature cycling (-40°C to +90°C), or the DC voltage stress patterns in solar systems. Using non-solar-rated cable voids warranties, fails code inspections, and risks insulation breakdown within 3-5 years.
Q.Why is tinned copper used instead of bare copper?
Tinning prevents copper oxidation at MC4 connector contact points and inside junction boxes where moisture can accumulate over 25 years. It ensures reliable, low-resistance connections throughout the cable's service life.
Q.What colours are available?
Standard: Black (negative) and Red (positive). Blue also available for certain system configurations. Custom colours on request for large orders.
