Frequently asked questions about PVC Control Cable (KVV)

Q.What is the difference between KVV and KVVP cable?

KVV is unshielded PVC control cable. KVVP adds a braided copper wire screen (shield) over the cores, providing electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection. Use KVVP when control signals run alongside power cables or in electrically noisy environments.

Q.What core counts are available?

We manufacture KVV control cable from 2 cores up to 61 cores. Standard options: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 19, 24, 27, 30, 37, 44, 48, and 61 cores. Custom core counts available on request.

Q.Can control cable be used for power circuits?

Control cable is rated 450/750V and designed for control signals and low-power circuits (typically up to 10mm²). For power distribution above 1kV or larger conductor sizes, use dedicated power cable (YJV/VV series).

Q.What is the maximum operating temperature?

PVC insulated control cable operates continuously at 70°C. For higher temperature environments, XLPE insulated control cable is available with 90°C rating.

Q.Do you provide armoured control cable?

Yes. KVV22 (steel tape armour) and KVV32 (steel wire armour) are available for direct burial or installations requiring mechanical protection. See our Armoured Control Cable product page.
