Rubber Insulated Welding Cable

Welding Cable (YH)

Heavy-duty flexible welding cable for arc welding machines and high-current portable equipment

YH series welding cable is a single-core, highly flexible cable designed to carry high welding currents from the welding machine to the electrode holder or workpiece clamp. Constructed with extra-fine Class 6 copper stranding and natural or synthetic rubber insulation, it remains pliable in cold conditions and resists abrasion, oil, and sparks on workshop floors. Rated AC 200V / DC 400V.

IEC 60245 (Type 81/82)GB/T 5013.2EN 50525-2-81AS/NZS 1125

Key features

  • Extra-fine Class 6 copper stranding (0.16mm wire diameter) for maximum flexibility
  • Natural rubber or EPR insulation — remains flexible to -25°C
  • Excellent resistance to abrasion, oil, grease, and welding sparks
  • Rated AC 200V / DC 400V
  • Available sizes: 10mm² to 120mm²
  • Standard colours: Black, Orange (for electrode lead identification)

Typical applications

  • Manual arc welding (MMA/SMAW) machine connections
  • MIG/MAG and TIG welding secondary circuits
  • Resistance welding machine bus bars
  • High-current portable power connections
  • Electroplating and electrolysis equipment
  • Battery charger connections for heavy equipment

Frequently asked questions about Welding Cable (YH)

Q.What is the duty cycle rating for welding cable?

Our current ratings are based on 60% duty cycle (standard for manual welding — 6 minutes welding per 10-minute period). For automated welding at 100% duty cycle, derate the current by approximately 25% or select the next larger cable size.

Q.What is the minimum operating temperature?

Standard rubber-insulated welding cable operates from -25°C to +65°C. For extreme cold environments below -40°C, we offer special cold-resistant versions with silicone-rubber or EPR insulation.

Q.Can welding cable be used outdoors permanently?

Welding cable is designed for portable use and is UV and weather resistant to a degree. For permanent outdoor installations, dedicated rubber-sheathed flexible cable (YC/YZ series) with a proper outer sheath is more appropriate.

Q.What is the difference between YH and YHF cable?

YH uses natural rubber insulation. YHF uses chloroprene (neoprene) rubber which offers better oil resistance and flame retardancy. Choose YHF for environments with oil/solvent exposure or where fire safety codes apply.

Q.What lengths are available per coil?

Standard packaging: 50m or 100m per coil, wound on cardboard drums or in PE-wrapped coils. Custom lengths available on request. Export packaging uses wooden drums.
